Humpback whale mother and calf, swimming the coastline of Vancouver Island on their way north to summer feeding grounds. Humpback whales have made a comeback in recent years along the coast after being hunted to dwindling numbers many years ago. Now they are returning to the rich coastal seas of the Pacific Northwest and the towering blow of spray marking their passage is a delight to many on land and sea.
